Alex Whitney is the Director of Construction for Comcast’s Beltway Region. Currently, he assumes the lead role for Commercial Construction. In this role he leads a diverse team of colleagues and business partners building the pathway for our Comcast Business customers to connect our best-in-class products. His responsibilities include a $86 Million capital budget that will produce more than 10,000 commercials passings, making Beltway the 2nd largest commercial growth region in the company. These results are from a highly engaged team that has shown unprecedented improvements in Net Promoter Scores with a YoY Improvement of +65%. Alex is the lead for Beltways Veterans Network employee resource group and a member of the National Advisory Council for Comcast Cable Veterans Network.
Prior to this assignment, Alex led a 300+ team of leaders and frontline technicians who are focused on transforming the customer experience and delivering Comcast’s best-in-class products to 750,000 customers in the Maryland market. His achievements include a 24% increase in team engagement and favorability, and reduction of repeat trucks rolls by 24% - a savings of over $1.1 Million. Alex joined Comcast as an installation and service technician in 2004 and has held progressively rewarding positions in Technical Operations, Comcast Business and Engineering throughout the Beltway Region.
Alex holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland University College in Business Administration, and three Certificates from Anne Arundel Community College in Leadership, Communication and Human Resources.
Alex is a United States Marine Corps veteran where he served as a Combat Motion Media Photographer from 1999 to 2003. He earned the rank of Corporal and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His decorations include: Presidential Unit Citation – Navy, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Nato Medal – Kosovo.
Alex is extremely passionate about the veteran community. Outside of work, Alex serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training in Baltimore (MCVET). MCVET is nonprofit 501 (c)(3) that provides homeless veterans and other veterans in need with comprehensive services that enable them to rejoin their communities as productive citizens. He is a life-member of the Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign War and The American Legion where he previously served as the Department of Maryland Vice Commander and holds several roles within his local post.
Alex lives in Westminster, Maryland with his wife, Danielle, and 2 children Ashlynn and AJ. You can typically find Alex and his family building memories by enjoying sporting events, camping or anything outdoors.
